ANVESHAN 2011: Shatak Ko Salaam

ITIHAAS Young Writers' Forum, ANVESHAN 2011 brings yet again an opportunity for the budding writers, reporters and artists to take a leap from textbooks to streets.
The ‘100’ that excites us all the most is the century – a shatak – that a batsman scores on a cricket field. The euphoria sees no bound. Ever wondered why it’s so important to score a century? Why can’t a score of 95 or even 99 mean the same? ANVESHAN, this year, is precisely about deciphering this conundrum.

Hundred can mean much more than just a number. It consolidates! It is a token of stability, almost synonymous with credibility and sustenance. That’s why it is celebrated!

Think of anything that has been around for a hundred years – a building, a post office, an artefact and of course, a grandparent! Don’t they all leave us awestruck by their sheer longevity, their mileage?

It is always baffling to find out what goes into accomplishing the mystical figure of a hundred. There is always an interesting story to unearth about its legacy, its journey, its travails and triumphs. They all deserve a salute from us. So, let’s offer them our ‘Salaams’ by celebrating their journey- “SHATAK KO SALAAM”. ITIHAAS invites you to be a part of this celebration- come, participate in ANVESHAN 2011- SHATAK KO SALAAM!

Almost there!

The 100th year marks an epoch in a lifecycle. As you start off with the search, you may find quite a few examples that, in 2011, are proudly experiencing the delight of being 100. But there will also be cases where your subject is either approaching the magical figure in a few years’ time or is a little past it, brimming with anticipation and a treasured hangover respectively. So, to bring them all under the umbrella of ANVESHAN, we provide you a leeway of 5 years on either side of 100.
