AVESHAN 2013

                 “Ink your linksAnveshan 2013

We call upon students to ponder……

Have we ever wondered what makes us the kind of people we are? What decides how we look, speak, dress and think; the way we live life and celebrate it? How does all of it make us so different from each other and yet so similar? Anveshan this year urges you to ponder over these questions and share what you find.

ITIHAAS believes that each one of us is the outcome of a long, long journey, undertaken over generations. What used to be and what exists is bound together by a common root, a shared link. In fact, we are all the sum total of countless links collected and connected through the ages. It is these links, abuzz with stories and experiences, which define our identity. It is what we have inherited from those who have lived before us. We embody these links and are consistently moulding them, till they are fit to be passed on to those who will come after us…

Anveshan 2013 is about identifying and celebrating the snippets that complete the grand narrative of your family, community, region or country. So, go out and find the links that make you complete and, then, pen them all down using your imagination and creative flourish. Slow down a little, turn around and maybe even take a few steps back towards the path that has brought you, as a generation, this far.

Every quest, every search is about looking for the relevant links and following them in the right order. Being the generation that is so thoroughly hooked on to the internet, we understand it pretty well. We, too, carry out searches, albeit on Google, and know exactly how crucial it is to follow the correct (hyper) links. But we need to learn that Google doesn’t have all the answers. In fact, the best ones are those found not by digging into a gadget but by physically foraying into the wondrous world that surrounds us.

Anveshan 2013 encourages you to rediscover the joys of holding a pen in your hands and inking down the thoughts. Go out, to places where our collective inheritance thrives. Meet people and soak in their rich experiences. Read up those rare and well-preserved books, magazine, manuscripts and letters that you certainly can’t download from somewhere as a PDF! Look for the real links that you can touch and hold, feel and embrace, imagine and cherish…
